Trendy Drink

Older cocktails are becoming trendy. Taking into consideration that Russia is all over the news these days, I researched the Black Russian. It’s a 1940’s drink created during the cold war when Russia was a mysterious and dark place. I envision drinking this cocktail on a rainy day as an aperitif or a digestive, (fancy ways to say before or after dinner).

The coffee flavor of Kahlua is perfect to start or end a meal. It is an easy to make drink and a nice change of pace to start a conversation. The right proportions are: 1oz vodka, 1/2oz Kahlua. I add less Kahlua because I find it to be too sweet. There is also a White Russian: just add 1/2oz milk to the Black Russian drink and voila!
