What is wine?

Wine Folly pictures. What is the big fuss about wine? It is just an alcoholic beverage made with fermented grapes. Evidently there is much more to it since there’s a lot of people that worship wine. But why? First of all, wine is very hard to make. It brings together the subjective with the objective. It is a labor of love as well as one that requires much technical expertise.

Even if the bottle is mostly water, there are so many chemical reactions going on, starting from the fermentation process to the oak barrel and bottle aging. Each step develops the “juice” more and more. On top of this, wine has phenols like anthocyanins and resveratrol that are good for us due to their antioxidant activity.

Red wine has the most Phenolic compounds.  Tannat grapes have been found to have a high content of polyphenol called procyanidin. This grape can be found in a village called Madiran in Southern France, Sardinia, Italy and Uruguay.
